Why fix water pressure problems?
Low water pressure makes everyday tasks frustrating. Showers feel weak, it takes forever to fill a sink or bath and some appliances will not work properly. Very high pressure can be just as bad, putting extra stress on pipes, taps and appliances and leading to leaks and bursts.
Having your water pressure checked and fixed by a licensed plumber improves comfort, protects your plumbing and helps your fixtures and appliances last longer.
- Better shower pressure and more comfortable daily use
- Faster filling sinks, baths and appliances
- Reduced stress on pipes, taps and flexible hoses
- Fewer leaks and less wear on hot water systems and fixtures
- System set up in line with recommended pressure limits
Water Pressure Testing and Repairs
Licensed Melbourne plumbers.
We diagnose and fix water pressure issues in homes and small businesses, from low pressure showers to noisy, high pressure pipework.
Tell us a few details about what is happening, which fixtures are affected and whether the issue is hot, cold or both so we can plan the visit and provide a clear, upfront price.
We test incoming mains pressure, check valves and regulators, inspect pipework and look at hot water systems and fixtures. Once we find the cause, we recommend repair options that give you consistent, comfortable water pressure.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my shower pressure so low?
- Common causes include partially closed valves, blocked shower heads or filters, old or undersized pipework, faulty mixer cartridges and issues with the hot water system or pressure limiting valves. A plumber can test each part of the system to find the cause.
My cold pressure is fine but hot is weak. What does that mean?
- This often points to an issue with the hot water system, tempering valve, filters or pipework on the hot side. We will check the unit, valves and pipes feeding your hot water to work out where the restriction is.
Can water pressure be too high?
-
Yes. Pressure that is too high can stress pipes, taps, flexi hoses and appliances and lead to leaks or bursts. In many areas a pressure limiting valve is required to keep pressure within a safe range.
Is low water pressure always a plumbing problem?
- Not always. Sometimes the issue is on the street side of the meter. We test pressure at the meter and inside the home. If incoming pressure is low we can advise on options and whether you need to speak with the water authority.
What is involved in fixing water pressure issues?
- We start by asking which fixtures are affected and whether it is hot, cold or both. On site we test pressure, check valves and regulators, inspect pipework and look at fixtures and hot water systems. Once we find the cause we repair or replace the faulty parts and retest to confirm the pressure is back to normal.
